LG41dTOUCH - a step ahead in wood drying.

dTOUCH is a step ahead in the control systems for kiln dryers, since it combines an advanced and flexible control system with the know-how of international experts in the timber drying field. dTOUCH has been developed in cooperation with IVALSA, the Italian Research Institute, member of CNR, which includes a laboratory for research and tests about timber drying. In addition to all the functions already implemented in Delphi plus many other, dTOUCH includes a wide range of base drying programs for over 400 timber species, including also some special cycles to maintaining/changing the natural colour of the wood, for fast drying and so on.
dTOUCH uses this data base, together with the information received from the sensors and the inputs from the user (such as required quality, priority to time or to quality, particular requirements..) to create each time the program more suitable to drying the wood according to the specific needs of the user...
...because a spread library of drying programs is not enough: several are the possible requirements, and several must be the programs for satisfy them...
dTOUCH can automatically identify some critical conditions (like frozen wood, casehardened wood etc.) and modify the drying cycle in order to include the most suitable remedy for the identified problem. The creation of a customized program using dTOUCH does not more require the user to learn about drying methods and programming details (temperature, humidity, time, etc..); it is enough to "explain" to the system what are the special requirements by answering some simple questions and the system will create the most suitable cycle.

dTOUCH – An evolving system

dTOUCH is a control system with a great potential, which is now just at the first stage of its development and which will be expanded in the next future, thanks to the cooperation with IVALSA and to the experimentation on pilot plants.
By using the automatic upgrade function (available when connected to a PC running XYLON software) your dTOUCH system will take advantage of the continuous improvements that will be developed on this product, in a very easy and totally free way.
In addition to the advanced functions already available, other advanced functions are now under development, such as:
DRYING CYCLE EVALUATION
This function, especially useful in case of repeated drying cycles on material having homogeneous characteristics (specie, thickness and initial conditions), will be used to optimize the drying cycles according to the specific kiln characteristics and to the user specific requirements.LG41 and Smartphone
At the end of the cycle, the user will have the opportunity to answer to a few questions to give an evaluation about the completed cycle; dTOUCH, the drying expert, will use this information to modify the current cycle then will save it for the next drying.
PROBLEMS SOLVING
An new function will be provided to inform the system about doubts regarding the drying in progress (such as long time, appearing defects etc.) through a guided procedure ("wizard") ; at the end of the procedure the system will automatically take the most suitable measures

dTOUCH – The friendly expert

A big effort has been accomplished to provide dTOUCH with the best user-friendly interface. The system is based on a touch sensitive, colour LCD screen. Whenever possible, every function is identified by a icon, while the menu are available in several languages. All the selectable functions are identified by buttons or blue colour. With dTOUCH a single touch on the screen is enough to switch from the most complete automatic management to the simplest semi-automatic mode, without need for any programming.

dTOUCH – The flexible solution

Being based on "Kiln Bus" protocol, dTOUCH is compatible with all the most recent sensors and interfaces developed by LogicaH&S. The number of probes and their typology can be configured as required to satisfy whatever control need, including interfacing to non conventional sensor or sensors for special uses like ISPM15 compliant heat treatment. Following three configurations are provided as example:

LG41 Customization ExampleThe configuration includes: dTOUCH control panel, relay output unit LG39, LG25 amplifier c/w 10m cable, 2 x probes box (to be installed inside the kiln, each one including 1 temperature probe, 1 EMC clamp, 3 x mc plugs and 10m of Teflon insulated cable), 6 mc cables (10m), 14 electrodes x 3 lengths.
Configuration based on LG25 amplifier; the probes boxes (installed inside the kiln) must be connected to LG25 which must be installed outside the kiln. This configuration is especially suitable for drying cycles at temperatures up to 120°C.

C001705 Controller mod. dTOUCH – LG35 (2T,2 digital EMC, 8MC)

The configuration includes: dTOUCH control panel, LG39 relay output unit LG39, 2 x LG35 amplifiers (to be installed inside the kiln, each one including 1 digital temperature/EMC probe, 4 x mc plugs), 8 mc cables (10m), 18 electrodes x 3 lengths. The cable for the sensors connections (C000779)should be purchased separately in the desired length.
Configuration based on LG35 amplifiers, which are built directly into the probes boxes, which should be installed inside the kiln; especially suitable for drying cycles at temperatures up to 80°C.

C002402 Controller mod. dTOUCH – LG36 (2T,2EMC, 2 Rx)

The configuration includes: dTOUCH control panel, LG39 relay output unit LG39, 2 x  LG36 wireless sensors receiver, 2 x wireless digital EMC box (to be installed inside the kiln, each one with one digital EMC and one temperature probe).
Configuration based on a wireless sensors network, especially suitable for drying cycles up to 100°C, where it is preferable to avoid connection cables for MC probes. The code does NOT include any timber moisture sensor, which must be purchased separately in the desired quantity (min. 1, max. 32). Every timber moisture sensor has two moisture probes (surface + core) plus one temperature sensor; the temperature sensor may also be external in order to measure the timber core temperature.

All the above examples use LG39 as relays output unit, to drive proportionally flaps, heating valve and sprayers (by pulses) and to manage the fans inversion and speed (through a 0-10 analog output). Several different configurations are available either to add further outputs or to connect additional sensors.
